The V-1 Buzz Bomb, officially known as the Fieseler Fi 103, is an iconic piece of military aviation history. Developed by Nazi Germany during World War II, this early cruise missile left a significant mark on the tactics of warfare. Operational from 1944 until the end of the war in 1945, the V-1 was designed for terror and destruction, targeting Allied cities such as London and Antwerp. Powered by a pulsejet engine, it was capable of reaching speeds up to 640 km/h (400 mph), delivering a 850 kg (1,870 lb) warhead over a range of 250 km (160 mi). Its distinctive buzzing sound earned it the nickname 'Buzz Bomb' or 'Doodlebug' among the Allies. Despite its terror, the V-1 also pushed forward the development of missile technology and unmanned aerial vehicles, marking a significant point in military aviation history.
