The KC-10 Extender is an air refueling tanker aircraft that has been in service with the United States Air Force since 1981. Manufactured by McDonnell Douglas, the KC-10 is a military version of the three-engined DC-10 airliner. It's primarily used for aerial refueling, but it can also carry cargo and passengers. With its ability to refuel a large number of aircraft on long-distance missions, the KC-10 has been a significant force multiplier in operations like Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom. Also known as 'The Gas Station in the Sky', this aircraft is a vital asset in extending the range and endurance of U.S. tactical fighters and bombers.
