The B-45 Tornado, a product of North American Aviation, was the first operational jet bomber in the United States Air Force's arsenal. Operational from 1948 to 1959, this pioneering aircraft paved the way for the jet age in the military aviation world. The Tornado was primarily used for nuclear or conventional bombing missions and reconnaissance. It was also the first jet bomber capable of carrying a nuclear bomb. With a top speed of 570 mph and a range of 1000 miles, the B-45 was a formidable force in its time. It was also known as 'Nightbird' when used in night missions.
