The F-102 Delta Dagger, a product of Convair, was a mainstay in the United States Air Force from the mid-1950s to the late 1970s. This supersonic jet interceptor was designed to intercept invading Soviet strategic bomber fleets during the Cold War. It was the USAF's first operational delta wing fighter aircraft, boasting a maximum speed of Mach 1.25 and an impressive range of 1,350 miles. The F-102 was also the first fighter aircraft designed with area rule, a design technique for reducing an aircraft's drag at transonic and supersonic speeds. The Delta Dagger was commonly referred to as the 'Deuce' among its pilots.
