The F-106 Delta Dart, produced by Convair, was a supersonic, all-weather delta wing interceptor aircraft of the United States Air Force from the 1960s to the 1980s. Known as the 'Ultimate Interceptor', it was the last dedicated interceptor in U.S. Air Force service to date. Operational from 1959 to 1988, it was renowned for its speed, reaching Mach 2.3 with a service ceiling of over 57,000 feet. The F-106 was equipped with advanced radar and fire control systems, allowing it to autonomously track, intercept, and destroy enemy aircraft with its arsenal of rockets and missiles. Despite its primary role as an interceptor, the Delta Dart also set numerous world speed and altitude records, demonstrating its exceptional performance.
